Every gentle nuzzle deserves a second chance

Help a forgotten horse feel safe, loved, and home again.

Forgotten Hearts Horse Sanctuary rescues neglected, abandoned, and at-risk horses and gives them quiet pastures, gentle hands, and a forever family. Your gift today turns empty stalls into soft beds, fear into trust, and hunger into full bellies.

Some hearts get forgotten. We don’t let them stay that way. Forgotten Hearts Horse Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Morrisdale, PA. We rescue abused, neglected, and slaughter-bound horses and give them what they’ve been denied: safety, care, and a real “you’re home now” life.

100% of your donation goes directly to feed, shelter, and medical care for rescued horses.

Gentle rescued horse being held by a volunteer at Forgotten Hearts Horse Sanctuary

This is Willow on her first day with us. Too weak to stand for long, she trembled at every sound. Today she trots to the fence for kisses and carrots. That transformation is the power of your kindness.

From forgotten fields to forever homes

Forgotten Hearts began with one limping mare and a promise: no horse in our path would ever be left behind again. Today, our sanctuary is a soft landing for the gentle souls others gave up on.

Many of the horses who arrive at our gate are scared, underweight, and unsure if any human can be trusted. We welcome them with slow mornings, soft brushes, and enough time to remember what it feels like to simply be a horse.

Your generosity keeps the pastures green, the water buckets full, and the lights on in our barn when the storms roll in. More than that—it tells each horse, "you are not forgotten; you matter."

  • Emergency rescues from neglect, abuse, and auction pipelines
  • Rehabilitation with veterinary care, proper nutrition, and hoof care
  • Behavioral training built on patience, play, and positive reinforcement
  • Lifetime sanctuary for horses who are too fragile to be rehomed
  • Careful adoption matching for horses ready for a new forever family

Every gift writes a new chapter

Meet a few of the horses whose lives were changed because someone like you chose to care.

Rescued horse Luna grazing peacefully at the sanctuary

Luna • from skin and bones to sunlit meadows

Luna arrived so underweight that every rib showed. Within months, your donations helped cover specialized feed, vet visits, and gentle training. Today, she leads the herd toward the pond every morning.

Gentle senior horse Jasper being brushed by a child

Jasper • the old soul who teaches patience

Surrendered after his working years were over, Jasper came to us stiff and shut down. With consistent farrier care and quiet afternoons in the pasture, he now gently lowers his head so children can brush his nose.

Playful rescued foal Ivy running in the paddock

Ivy • the foal who finally learned to play

Born into chaos and seized in a cruelty case, Ivy had never known a safe day of life. Your support funded bottle feedings, vet checks, and a patient foster herd. Now, she races her friends for the pure joy of running.

What your gift makes possible in one month

Even a small, steady gift goes a very long way in a horse's world. Here’s how your monthly love turns into real-life comfort:

  • $25 — soft shavings for a warm, dry stall
  • $50 — a week of quality hay for one hungry horse
  • $75 — a farrier visit to ease painful hooves
  • $100 — a full vet exam and vaccinations for a new arrival
  • $250+ — emergency rescue transport when a call comes in at midnight

Choose a level that feels right in your heart. Every single dollar is stretched, savored, and turned into care.

Forgotten Hearts Horse Sanctuary is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Your donation is secure and tax-deductible as allowed by law.

“When I first visited Forgotten Hearts, I expected to feel sad. Instead, I saw horses dozing in the sun, leaning into hugs, and nickering for treats. Knowing my monthly donation keeps that peace possible is one of the best feelings in my life.”

– Emily, proud Barn Guardian since 2021

Your love turns into warm barns, full bellies, and quiet, happy nickers.

Questions about giving?

Here are a few answers from our barn to yours.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. Forgotten Hearts Horse Sanctuary is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your donation is tax-deductible in the United States to the fullest extent allowed by law. After giving, you’ll receive a receipt by email for your records.

Can I give once instead of monthly?

Absolutely. While monthly gifts help us plan ahead for feed, vet care, and emergency rescues, one-time donations are deeply appreciated and put to work immediately for the horses in our care.

How is my donation used?

100% of your donation goes directly toward the horses—feed, shavings, veterinary care, farrier visits, medications, and safe shelter. Administrative and fundraising costs are covered separately through grants and designated gifts so your impact stays in the barn.

Can I visit the sanctuary or meet the horses I support?

Yes! We offer scheduled visit days and small-group tours so you can see the sanctuary, meet some of our residents, and feel the difference your generosity makes. After you donate, you’ll receive invitations to upcoming visitor days.

What if I need to change or cancel my monthly gift?

You’re always in control. You can increase, decrease, or cancel your monthly support at any time with a quick email or by updating your settings through our donor portal. We’re grateful for every month you choose to stand with the herd.

Tonight, a horse will fall asleep safer because of you.

If your heart is tugging at you, follow it. Join the herd of kind humans caring for the horses the world forgot.
